Henry Sugar
Finch dropped off to me the Wonderful Tales of Henry Sugar (Roald Dahl). Ok
so my reading tastes have not developed greatly in 15 years, but thats not
true, the classics are still the best and I had never read that story yet.
How can a story about a man who learns the techniques of meditation and
special powers from Indian yogis to beat all the casinos around the world
not be worth reading??
Anyway I cant really explain how good the story was, but there was some
powerful message about meditation which got through to me. I sort of believe
in all that super power yogi stuff, or at least am open to the possibility
that exists. I think through meditation anything is possible, is that
the I am in control thing mitch was talking about. In the book which is
fiction, one of the the challenges is to concentrate only on one object
or person for 3 minutes, and nothing else. Try it, see how long you can
concentrate before another thought enters your mind.
